Make a difference in a young person's life. Share your time, talents and treasure. Giving your time is time invested in the future leaders of our world. You can also help with your financial support. Individuals, businesses, foundations and charities all participate in supporting PAYFS and everything we do.
All of our volunteers will need to complete a background check before they begin to work with children or youth.
Be a reading tutor to a K-8 child. 2 hour per week commitment, preferably for entire school year. Training and lesson plans provided. Spanish speakers especially needed. Background check required. Contact Jenni Schubert, 612-825-6864 ext. 503, jenni.schubert@payfs.org.
Homework Club
Mondays-Thursdays 3-6pm
6th-8th grade
Are you interested in being a positive role model for the youth in the Central neighborhood? Our after school program is geared towards students in middle school struggling with their academics. They could use your homework help, quality time, and supervision in our computer lab, even for just a few hours.
For more information please contact Kiesha Lamb at 612.825.6864 ext. 553 or kiesha.lamb@payfs.org
Creative Writing
Tuesdays 3-4:30pm
6th-8th grade
Have you always had a passion for creativity? Well some of our youth do too! Join me in facilitating a class for our upcoming leaders to learn how to express themselves and join a greater conversation both locally and internationally through their very own writing. This class will offer skills for self expression and a tool to navigate their lives in the future. All they need are adults who model creativity! Is that you?!
For more information please contact Kiesha Lamb at 612.825.6864 ext. 553 or kiesha.lamb@payfs.org
Team Jump Rope
Tuesdays 4:30 pm-6pm

Park Avenue Youth and Family Services is interested in starting a competitive jump rope team and we need volunteers to keep equipment organized, encourage youth to try new things, and promote a safe and healthy atmosphere.

Miss Kiesha’s Neighborhood

Volunteers are needed to chaperone our youth as they learn to appreciate their very own community. We will travel around the Central neighborhood and throughout south Minneapolis doing service learning projects and exploring the richness of the community. Come and join us as we serve our neighborhood together.

Help the Tronix Team! Work with 3-8 grade students every Tuesday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. for Tronix Tuesdays. Help build fun electronic projects with our youth. Also, keep class materials in order and pack instructors up for classes held in schools. Perfect for the person who loves to organize things. Contact Leah Ritz, 612-825-6864 ext. 501, leah.ritz@payfs.org.
Bring your church or youth group to prepare, serve and cleanup dinner for all of the young people (approx. 25) learning in the building on any Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evening. It is hard to learn when you are hungry!
