We're bringing kitchen fun to the kids at our Vacation Bible School, Shake It Up Café: Where Kids Carry Out God's Recipe! Kids from 4 years old to 5th grade will become chefs-in-training at Shake It Up Café as we discover God's recipe for living. After a high-energy opening at Shake It Up Café, the chefs make their way to Kitchen á la King. Interactive Bible lessons reveal five 'secret' ingredients for living as a follower of God, and your chefs will learn Bible Bite memory verses that will boost their faith long after VBS.
The children will expand on what they've learned by participating in a variety of activities: making their own art projects at Tangy & Tart Arts, exploring science activities at Foodology Factory, participating in recreational activities at Spork Sports and enjoying tasty snacks at the Takeout Treatery.
VBS is FREE but please register so that we know how many to expect.
Our six week – High Flyers Academy is created for students that like variety! This is for students that are willing to actively participate in their own learning. This program will have high intensity units that will bring students new and exciting understandings of our world. Each week will incorporate the skills of Reading and Math into classroom sessions built to encourage thinking, analyzing, and comparison building.
Here are the themes for the six weeks of the High Flyers Academy:
The Arts: (Week One, June 20 – June 24) Students will be introduced to four art mediums – Painting, Dough Creations, TieDyeing, and Hot Foil Images.
African American Culture: (Week Two, June 27 – July 1) African American culture will be explored through Jazz music and African drumming. Students will experience the voices of African American poets and writers.
Sports: (Week Three, July 5 – July 8) This very active week will give the students a taste of new sports such as tennis plus hone their skills in more familiar sports such as soccer and basketball. They will learn about many sports notables who not only play a good game but also teach students about the value of education.
Native American Culture: (Week Four, July 11 – July 15) The cultures of First World Minnesotans will be explored and students will come to appreciate the beauty of these Native American cultures through their customs of respecting and preserving creation.
Tronix: (Week Five, July 18 – July 22) This is where our children try to leave us behind – technology and engineering! Under the teamwork of regular classroom teachers and Tronix instructors, students will experience the use of building, wiring, creating something new that works, such as a lunch box boom box. This is a week that students will highly favor. Perhaps parents will learn something too!
Latino American Culture: (Week Six, July 25 – July 29) The Latino Culture will be experienced in the colors, sights, and sounds of Mexico, Ecuador and other Latin American countries. This unit will culminate with the tastes of these cultures.
Field trips will take place on Fridays every week except the week of July 4. Though it is recommended that students commit for the entire six weeks, students may register for individual weeks to accommodate family schedules. For maximum learning and minimum disruption for other students, we ask that students arrive on time, ready to fully participate on every day that they are registered to be with us.
